BEFORE & AFTER PHOTOS
This chair was found on the curb for "Bulky" trash pick-up. After a little sanding, paint and new fabric on the seat, the chair looks terrific! This Butcher block table top was left out for "Bulky" trash pick-up. After sanding the edges and applying mineral oil to the surface it looks brand new. It was donated and used in the shelter kitchen. This wooden dresser was found in the Winterhaven development. The bottom two drawers were broken. The knobs were old and rusted. We removed the bottom two drawers and replaced them with two black baskets that were also found in bulk trash and spray painted black. See below for more info. The wood shelf was broken in many places. With Elmer's Wood Glue and paint, the shelves look perfect.
The original fabric smelled like smoke, had a button falling off and had dirt on it. We removed the old fabric, sprayed the cushion with bleach, let dry and added new fabric. This lamp had bad wiring and was old and dusty. Set out for trash, we picked it up. After removing the old wiring and halo, it cleaned up very nice for a vase. This old fish tank holder was also put out for trash. After adding the front of a cabinet door and new paint, it was turned into a side table next to a couch. This foot stool was found near the University of Arizona. It had one leg broken and paint on the top cushion. We repaired the wood leg, re-painted the base and removed the paint on the cushion with rubbing alcohol. The foot stool was donated to a woman who had just left the emergency shelter. Old rusted bed springs tossed out for trash. Reused to make candle holders. Saguaro cactus has wooden ribs beneth the green cactus looking skin. After cleaning the ribs with bleach, the ribs are dried and ready to be made into lamps. Old ranch lariats are reused for wall decoration. Iron security window left for trash, reused to make a pot rack. Cushions from couches and sofas are treated with clorox bleach, covered with different fabric and made into dog and cat beds for animal shelters in Tucson and across the country.

The knobs were removed, sanded and painted with left over black spray paint. This dresser went to a woman who had two young children living in transitional housing. She was keeping her childrens clothes in paper bags from the local grocery store.
What happens AFTER
we find the items left out for bulk trash pick-up?
The bulk trash we find on the curb is loaded into our car and dropped off at our "workshop" a.k.a Grandma's house. Each piece is closely examined to see what needs to be repaired and/or touched up.

Once the wood items such as dressers, entertainment centers, coffee tables and desks are repaired, we load them up and take them to residents of emergency shelters, transitional housing or places where residents are in dire need of furniture and household items.

Cushions from couches and sofas are treated with bleach, covered with different fabric and made into dog and cat beds for animal shelters in Tucson and across the country.
